Aliya & Justin • Finger Lakes Wedding Photographer

Thursday, July 10th, 2014

What a fantastic season 2014 has been so far! I have had the kindest, most adorable couples. Aliya and Justin were certainly no exception. These two are so sweet. They wanted to read cards they’d written to each other before the ceremony, but didn’t want to see each other. The hotel we were at didn’t have a lobby so finding a good corner in which to do this was a bit tough! I was glad to find this out-of-the-way and very simple spot for this shot, it worked out pretty well and Aliya and Justin were able to have a private moment before the ceremony.

Aliya was a gorgeous bride!

Not too shabby either, Justin. Their kids are going to have the most beautiful eyes in the world.

Love this sharp dressed man! He was prepared for duty.

I loved how seriously he took his ring bearer job. His compatriot was a bit more relaxed, ha ha.

Justin had a hard time holding back the tears.

Lots of smiling going on.

Mr and Mrs!!

We took the bridal party to a family friend’s house for pictures, they were great about pretending there weren’t 50 million bugs swarming us at all times, ha ha.

It was a very pretty spot for sure!

I expect quite a bit of catcalling in the comments on this one. Don’t let me down ladies!

We headed back to Belhurst for portraits of Justin and Aliya… these two made my job easy.

I want this to be a perfume ad. Ridiculously Good Looking, a new fragrance by Calvin Klein.

Starting to get some of that late afternoon prettiness.

Aliya’s gorgeous red hair looks extra pretty backlit! Jealous.

Aliya’s dad was a bit choked up during the father daughter dance.

But once party time rolled around everyone was feeling good!

The wedding DJ played some pretty fun games… here Justin was being serenaded with “I Will Always Love You”

We have a first in the ongoing Wedding MVP competition… I am almost certain this is the first time an inanimate (mostly) object has snagged the title. One of Justin’s good friends, Kevin, was unable to be at the wedding because of work so Aliya had a life sized cardboard cutout made of him. Kevin was the life of the party! He showed up at the ceremony and reception and he got a bit handsy with the guests but that Kevin is such a charmer… how could you even be mad?

The guys!

Aliya’s costume change was adorable and I’m pretty sure she’s the only person who could ever pull off a wedding romper! So cute! Congratulations lovebirds, thank you so much for having me!! <3

Farewell, 2013! • Rochester Wedding Photographer

Friday, January 3rd, 2014

Now that 2014 is upon us, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite photographs from my 2013 weddings… a huge “Thank You” to all my couples for making it such a fun and successful year! Your move, 2014-ers :)

Ashley & Joey’s Cornell wedding was so very special. Just a few days into the new year and I got to witness their giddy, gleeful love for each other.

Next up was Becca and Mike’s intimate ceremony at Bristol Harbour… it was bitterly cold but these two braved the elements for some gorgeous shots! So much fun hanging out with them!

Laura and Steve’s wedding at Belhurst Castle was beautiful, we were so lucky to catch the flowering trees! I loved their first look!

Stephanie and Matt’s ridiculously fun (most of the wedding party/guests are in musical theater, so the dance floor was insaaaane) was at the Genesee Country Museum. But no dance moves could upstage the canine romance that happened when we were shooting some portraits of Stephanie, Matt, Gizmo and Scamp… it’s so inappropriate, but so, so funny!

Katrina and Matt were one of my earliest bookings ever- over two years in advance, so I had tons of time to anticipate their day! It was everything I hoped it would be, sweet, emotional and fun. Matt watching Katrina come down the aisle is one of my favorites of the year! Look at that tear!!!

Karen and Will are such a fantastic pair… so sweet and genuine, it was so fun to spend the day with them, their wonderful family and friends! Plus we got to hang out at this incredible waterfall for a while!!

I got to travel down to the NJ for Dan and Megan’s ridiculously fun wedding… I love these two and am dead set on making them hang out with me next time I’m down there to visit my brother and sister-in-law. This shot made me laugh so hard… so Megan!!

I think Elizabeth and Mark take the prize for craziest wedding day weather… it was pouring, then sunny, then pouring, then sunny. Just a wild day! Elizabeth had found a barn she loved near the ceremony site and asked the homeowners a week or two before the wedding if we could use their property. The barn was really cool, but my jaw dropped when I saw what was out back… absolutely stunning!!!

Bre and Dan’s wedding was every bit as awesome as I was hoping it would be after hearing all of her plans, I loved the whole look… Bre should be a wedding coordinator!

I loved Jasmine and Grayson’s wedding at Glenora, the wedding totally reflected their personalities and I adored the ceremony set up!

I got to head up to Tughill Vineyards in Lowville, NY (aka one of the prettiest places ever) for Amber and Clif’s fabulous wedding. I just love these two. So fun to photograph. :)

Kelly and Jason’s beautiful wedding at the Sherwood in Skaneateles had so many highlights! I love this image, and it gets a little extra bump because Jason pointed out the spot and that it was the kind of light I love. How awesome is it that he remembered from our engagement shoot? I love my couples!!!

Ah, I can’t get enough of these two! Christi and Ergin are some of the nicest people ever. And this moment during their first look was so special. Ergin just bear hugged Christi (but in a very photogenic way, of course) and exclaimed, “this is a dream come true!” So lovely!!

Man, I have had such great luck during my career… I really do get the sweetest couples ever. Jess and Andrew and their family and friends were the best. What a great day!

Lauren and Chris had another fabulous day at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo. Probably one of my favorite venues of the year, and Lauren and Chris were so sweet and relaxed all day. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with them!

Jill and Zach’s wedding was a beautiful, emotional day. These two are so in love, and on top of it all, Zach’s sister Ryan is serving overseas. Zach’s father used Skpe on an iPad to allow Ryan to watch the ceremony and parts of the reception.

Brittany and Sean didn’t let anything disrupt their fun on their wedding day, I loved their attitudes! Brittany was excited about pictures in downtown Skaneateles, but unfortunately it was pouring rain all day. I told her that I was up for it if she was up for it, but wasn’t going to keep my hopes up… much to my surprise, she said “Let’s do it!” and out into the rain the three of us ran. Totally worth it, I love pictures in the rain and we had so much fun taking them!

Tree and Alexi had slightly better luck with the Skaneateles weather gods! I love Tree’s bubbly, sweet personality and how Alexi’s wit keeps her constantly giggling… they’re so cute together!

Jess and Mike, two of the loveliest hearts. Seriously. The kindest people. And a beautiful fall day in Ithaca :)

While Calvin and Laura’s bridal party lined up for introductions, I saw this gorgeous opportunity for a silhouette at Esperanza Mansion. So beautiful, and I love that you can still see them smiling at each other even though it is a just a silhouette!

Jennie and Greg had such a fun and emotional day! Jennie’s brother performed a tribute during the ceremony to honor family members they had lost and he had a bit of trouble getting through it, so Jennie got up to comfort and encourage him. Love this moment. What a great family!

Andrea and Phil’s beautiful wedding at the Genesee Valley Club was a great way to wrap up the season! I was under the weather, but we had so many pretty spots to work with in the club that it helped keep me distracted from my sore throat! :)

Congratulations to everyone and thank you once again for making it a fantastic year!!!! <3

Rebecca & Zach • Finger Lakes Wedding Photography

Rebecca and Zach are married! What a way to close out the 2011 season! I met Zach a few years ago when I did a portrait of his family before he and his brother moved to Arizona. I was so pleased to hear from Rebecca and Zach about their wedding… we set up a meeting and got talking about Arizona, I mentioned I was heading to Tempe for Pat’s Run and Rebecca was like “I ran that race too!” Which pretty much blew my mind. Since it is like 3,000 miles away and all. Awesome! We chatted about their wedding plans and I knew it’d be an awesome day…

I met the girls at Scott Miller Salon, where makeup was under way. PS Rebecca had her hair done at Shear Ego… it is so intricate and beautiful! Wowsa. Absolutely love her profile!

Rebecca and Zach opted to do a first sight, which is always a good idea… particularly when the sun is setting early! My favorite moment.

Did some portraits at the church, which had a lot of spots to work with. Mmmm, red.

The field behind us had the perfect color of green…

So cute!

It was sprinkling a little bit, so had to bust out the trusty old umbrella. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of using this guy!

It’s weird that it is mid-October, the weather has been especially chilly, and the leaves are barely changing. The trees are either green or completely bare, which is mega lame. We did manage to find some COLOR though!!!

In case you couldn’t tell yet, their colors were gray and yellow… I love that combo so! It is the theme of my living room! Loved the girls’ dresses.

The ceremony was at Oak’s Corners Presbyterian…

Mr & Mrs!!!

The reception was at Belhurst Castle, majestic as always! Loved their details. I need to find a new way to say that “Kittelberger’s killed it with the flowers once again.” Somebody get me a thesaurus! Ha ha

First dance. These little gestures make the best pictures. Le sigh!

This one may be my favorite of the night. Zach and his brother Ben are really close, Ben gave a really touching toast and happens to have the most photogenic tears on the planet.

A couple of guests got things rolling with a makeshift limbo… limbo pictures always crack me up!

We’ll Shout even if the Bills lose!

Oh man, I can’t even deal with the look of utter glee on this kid’s face… his dad(?) was spinning him around on the dance floor and he was loving every second of it. So cute!

Thank you so very much for having me, what a wonderful way to end my 2011 season… thank you Rebecca and Zach!!!

Bonnie and Brian • Finger Lakes Wedding Photography

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

This season has been just incredible. So many wonderful clients, so many beautiful locations! I can’t believe it’s almost over! I have been eagerly awaiting Bonnie and Brian’s wedding for quite some time… Bonnie was as sweet as can be through all our email chats, and when I finally met them in July we bonded over our mutual love of dogs, IPA and Columbus, OH. Brian went to OSU, which is a little known college a few miles from where I went to school, the Columbus College of Art and Design. It’s such a shame that OSU is always in the shadow of CCAD, ha ha ha… ok maybe not! It was so fun to chat about all the old places, and it turns out Brian and I were actually living in Columbus at the same time… weird!
Bonnie and Brian are super smart scientists and met while doing research, they both liked each other but neither one did anything about it for a while until Brian mustered up the courage to write her a really long email about work stuff, with one little sentence about going on a date buried at the end. Ha ha! So cute! Bonnie replied “yes” immediately, and the rest is history!

So this was a Finger Lakes wedding through and through… it was an absolutely PERFECT day to be driving around the winding roads, too. I met the girls in Penn Yan, where they were getting ready.

Bonnie told me she was deciding between a couple of pairs of shoes… excellent choice!!

One of the best parts of my job is getting to be around people on one of the best days of their lives… surrounded by loving and happy friends and family.

Rachel at In Bloom did a beautiful job on the flowers!

The ceremony was held at the stunning Garrett Memorial Chapel in Bluff Point. It’s buried on a hillside at the end of a long, semi-paved road and the grounds are just incredible. It felt like a movie set or something, with the sun filtering through the trees and the completely quiet, peaceful vibe.

These two are so ridiculously happy together…

Bridal Party!

I <3 these arches!!

garrett memorial chapel wedding

There’s this cool little path with a canopy of knotted-looking trees around it…

I was trying to explain that we had A River Runs Through It light” but neither Bonnie nor Brian has seen the movie. It’s kinda slow, honestly, but beautiful!

Perfection. Robert Redford called, he wants his light back. Heh heh.

The reception was held at Belhurst Castle! It’s about an hour away from the chapel, but it worked out perfectly because I got to listen to the tail end of the Bills game. Awesome couple, beautiful day, AND I got to listen to Buffalo take down Michael Vick… couldn’t ask for anything more! Bonnie’s details were so great… I LOVED the calligraphy on the place cards. I kept mine and think I need to make that into my official signature. It’s so pretty!

They make it so easy…

Everyone had a great time at the party!

And Wedding MVP award this week goes to Bonnie’s dad… he owned that hat!

It was such an honor to be part of your day, Bonnie and Brian! I can’t wait to hear about the wedding in Taiwan!
