Sarah and Mike • Finger Lakes Wedding Photography

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

This season has been just fantastic so far, and this weekend was certainly no exception! Sarah and Mike booked with me last August, but we didn’t get to meet until this summer… they told me they were going to have a great party and I was definitely convinced when Sarah emailed a couple of weeks before the wedding to ask for my cell number because her phone had been destroyed during her bachelorette party. That’s one hell of a party! (Ok, so the phone was actually waterlogged because the ladies were at the beach and a rogue wave came out of nowhere and soaked them all, but it sounds pretty impressive before you get the real story, doesn’t it?)

The whole day took place at the lovely Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua. The girls were so hilarious and fun to hang around with while they were getting ready, I was cracking up while I was shooting. Sarah looks stunning! I loved her dress.

Sarah and Mike opted for a first sight. :)

We did the bridal party shots and portraits before the ceremony, it was a fun group!

Smooth.

After pictures, everyone went inside to freshen up. The ladies were taken to a little waiting room before heading out to the ceremony… everyone was laughing and joking as we walked down the hall, and then as soon as they crossed the threshold of the room, half of them started tearing up. It must be some kind of special crying room!

The ceremony was sweet.

And funny!

There was a wine ceremony, and Mike gave some to Sarah, then the officiant said, “And Mike can finish the rest.” which was what prompted this expression from Sarah… so cute! There was a lot of wine left.

A few details… I could’ve watched the tablecloths fluttering in the breeze for a good hour or so.

I love the tent at the Inn, the lanterns add so much!

Let’s do this!

This was such a great dancing crowd!

How about some portraits? (This is the one where I told Mike I can read lips through the camera… ha ha ha ha)

The lake is so great on a cloudy day.

Sweet.

And one last one that they made me promise to post… :)

Thanks for having me guys, it was really a blast!

Another beautiful wedding! I was excited to meet Whitney after emailing with her for over a year… we actually had a little trouble getting in touch at the very start because of a little typo, but with a bit of sleuthing and some help from the lovely people at Esperanza, we finally caught up with eachother :) We exchanged a bunch of emails about the wedding plans and it sounded like it was going to be a great day- I was not wrong!!

Look at this gorgeous girl!

Cute!

The ceremony was on the patio, and they had their programs tied to the backs of the chairs… the background papers were all different patterns but they corresponded beautifully, and it was such a lovely sight to come outside and see all the bright papers fluttering in the breeze. It was really, really cool.

Bo, the ring bearer… this dog is a tank, he’s like 1 foot tall and 55 pounds. He looked so cute coming down the aisle with his little tuxedo collar, I love it!

First kiss with blowing veil? Yes please!

Fun bridal party!

:)

Puppy montage!! He has the best expressions at all. I love the one with just the one bottom tooth sticking out, I was making a raspberry noise at that point that really got his attention, ha ha!

The party was laid back and fun…

I love this so much!

I love that everyone has the same expressions in the next few photos… good times!

I had to include this one because Whitney’s expression is the best!

And some portraits… gotta go with the classic Esperanza shot!

So cute together!

Bill pulled a cool move and planned the honeymoon as a surprise for Whitney… she didn’t find out the destination until halfway through the reception! That is so awesome, what a fun surprise! I have some kind of mental block when it comes to island names so I can’t remember exactly where they are, but I know they are somewhere amazing! (seriously, I was just about to tell a funny story about not remembering what Caribbean islands I went to, but I was actually in the Bahamas. If anyone needs ideas for my next birthday gift, a globe would probably be a good idea. Jeez.) Thanks so much for having me, it was a pleasure!

Super late wedding blog! As I mentioned in my last post, I was on vacation all week in a place without the internets and spent most of my time trying to convince my sister’s dog to ride in the hatch of my kayak (fyi: I succeeded!) so I’m just getting around to blogging Megan and Tim!

I had been corresponding with Tim since last year about the wedding and was looking forward to meeting him and Megan, as well as shooting in some new (to me) venues. I met the ladies at Muller Chapel at Ithaca College where they were getting ready before the ceremony. Megan’s flowers were soooo pretty!

The chapel is really unique!

One of my favorite exits in a long time! Bubbles + sun flare = awesome!

It was so bright out in the afternoon, but we took a couple of shots outside of the chapel by the pond. More portraits from Buttermilk Falls at the end!

The reception was held at The Barn, which is a cool, rustic spot near the college.

Tee hee!

Buttermilk Falls is a cool place to shoot… I was there a few years ago for an engagement and was excited to go back. It was a little less, uh, buttermilky than usual because we haven’t had a ton of rain, but it was still very pretty!

Love her shoes! I have said it before and will say it again: colorful shoes on brides are the BEST!

They are so cute together :)

Congratulations Megan and Tim, it was a pleasure spending the day with you guys!

***Quick note to my clients- I will be on vacation next week in a place without internet access (GASP!) so will be a bit slow to respond, but I will probably end up trolling for free wifi. Hold tight!

Another super awesome wedding… I know I’m a broken record, but I can’t help it if my clients are the best. I was really excited to see Sipra and Jan again after our engagement session earlier this year, they’re such a cute couple and really, really sweet. Plus I was eager to shoot in Letchworth Park, also known as the Grand Canyon of the east! I met the ladies at Bellezza Salon in Brighton. The ladies there do beautiful work… not that Sipra needed any help at all. So gorgeous and happy!

The definition of a glowing bride!

The ceremony and reception were held at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth Park. Make sure you use the directions on their site and not your gps. Unless you want to spend the day staring at a signpost in front of a wall of trees. Whatever you prefer. My friend John Larkin came to shoot with me and got this awesome shot with a remote camera.

The ceremony was very sweet- Jan wrote a cute poem for Sipra.

Kiss!

Mr and Mrs… I think Jan’s parents threw some rice, I am totally in favor of rice/confetti/etc being thrown during the recessional!

We did a bunch of gorgeous portraits by the falls… see them at the end!
The reception was lots of fun, there were lots of music majors so the floor was rocking all night with help from Pierre at Turner Music. Sipra and Jan started things off right with a foxtrot and this saucy move!

I love a good soul circle.

YES! If I were him, I’d make this my facebook profile picture. Just sayin’

There are tons of beautiful spots to work with at and around the Inn… so much fun to shoot there!

Thank you so much for having me, Sipra and Jan… I loved photographing you two!

Lizy and Wyatt • Finger Lakes Wedding Photography

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

I think it’s so cool that my clients come from all over the country to get married in the Finger Lakes, but it also makes me sad that they live so far away because they are super awesome and I can’t be like “Hey, let’s hang out all the time!” I met Lizy and Wyatt in spring for an engagement session and they are as nice as can be, so of course I was looking forward to the wedding… it was just as fabulous as I was hoping!

Esperanza Mansion is one of my favorite places to shoot because it is beautiful and the staff is suuuuuperb. Seriously, they are a perfect balance of efficient and sweet… I love working with them. We were in a room I hadn’t been in before, it was really lovely… as was Lizy’s dress!

Lizy looked so stunning, the definition of elegance.

When I first got to St. Michael’s Church in Penn Yan, it was pretty dark, but the priest finally turned on the lights a few minutes before the ceremony and I was delighted… big improvement! Lizy and Wyatt were all smiles. It was adorable… I think like 98% of my ceremony pictures are full-on grins.

Kiss de girl

We then headed back to Esperanza for some pictures and partying… I’ll start with a few details. I adore this bouquet from the Topiary in Pittsford. So, so pretty. My living room is going to have a similar yellow/gray color theme!

Love!

Well, hello.

Lizy and Wyatt are my second couple to have their first dance to the Zombies’ “This Will Be Our Year” which I think is extra proof that my couples rule the school. That is such a good song.

Lizy and Wyatt’s families are all so friendly and happy, it was really fun to watch them all having a blast celebrating their new in-laws. Lizy and Wyatt’s dad were breaking it down on the dance floor for a while. :)

Can I also just point out that in this picture and the one above, Lizy and Wyatt were independently both doing finger-gun dances? MEANT TO BE, PEOPLE. Meant to be.

Do you think Cute Overload accepts pictures of people? This might be the first.

To the portraits!

Photogenic much?

Lizy’s shoes matched this pretty wall behind us… we made sure to take some shots with the dress hiked up, but this is my favorite. I so love colorful shoes on a bride though.

The view at Esperanza can’t be beat!

Thank you thank you for having me Lizy and Wyatt, it was truly a pleasure to celebrate with you and your families and friends! :)

Trisha and Steve • Ithaca Wedding Photography

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Ooooh, welcome to my 101st post! It would’ve been cooler if I’d noticed the milestone on my last post, but whatever!

Trisha and Steve were my first couple booked over video iChat… I thought it’d be a great way to faux-meet seeing as they were trying to plan their wedding from Kansas! I even got to meet their little kitty, Karma. :) They were very sweet and I was excited to meet them, especially since we’re friends on facebook so I’ve had a little window into their lives the last year or so (lots of running and thesis-ing, ha ha!) and it was nice to finally get to hang out in person! It was a fun, beautiful and dramatic day (two power outages and a major thunderstorm!) and I am really excited about the images we got!

I headed down to the hotel in Ithaca where everyone was in good spirits and the girls were finishing their preparations.

Looking gorgeous Trisha!

The ceremony was at All Saints Church, in Lansing. I cannot tell you what a huge treat it was to shoot in a bright church! Like, majorly majorly awesome.

So happy!

We headed to a nearby park for some pictures…

Rings + antlers = cool!

Then we headed to a truly stunning spot for the reception. Trisha and Steve had told me that it was a self-sustaining house on an organic farm, and of course I had high hopes that it would be beautiful, and I was not disappointed.

A heavy thunderstorm rolled in and we had to leave the tent for a while because of the metal poles… the light was insane. If it hadn’t been raining with intense lightning I probably would’ve kidnapped Trisha and Steve to take a million photos in this light. I’d be sadder about it if we hadn’t gotten so much other awesome stuff!

Toasts… :)

And a few more portraits from around the farm… I really could’ve shot there for about five times as long. Ugh, it was so beautiful!

And finally… my favorite…

It was such a pleasure to photograph you guys, and I basically want to shoot every wedding at this spot from now on!!! :)
