So excited to announce I’ve had a wedding featured in the gorgeous spring issue of WellWed magazine! Ann Clowe from The Topiary got the ball rolling on submitting Lizy and Wyatt’s beautiful summer wedding at Esperanza Mansion. I’d never submitted a wedding for publication before, so I sort of fumbled my way through it but was sooo thrilled when I got the message saying we made it in. Check out the spreads!

Another beautiful wedding with another great couple! I met with Susan earlier in the year about her wedding and was struck by how warm and open she was and was definitely looking forward to her wedding. She and Jeff briefly dated when they were 14, and met up years later through email. I thought that was cute, but Jeff had a special surprise for Susan at the reception. He revealed that on a visit home he’d discovered an old diary he’d kept as a teen… he then pulled out a framed page of the diary that mentioned the first time he met “this really pretty girl named Susan.” and how he was embarrassed that he ran out of things to say after he’d introduced himself. To remedy the situation, he resolved to think of things to talk about. It. Was. Hilarious. The whole place was roaring… it was such a perfect, funny, sweet surprise. Awesome.

The wedding was held at the lovely Mirbeau Inn and Spa… I was so excited when I saw Susan’s gorgeous dress. Stunning!

The ladies (and dad!) had a long, beautiful walk to get the ceremony spot. Mirbeau’s grounds are so pretty!

The ceremony was a bit late getting started so Susan’s dad made sure to give Jeff an encouraging hug when it got rolling…

Their first dance was amazing, Jeff’s uncle Bob played and sang the Pearl Jam song “Just Breathe”… it was really moving.

Erica and Sean… where to begin! Erica is friends with my brother and sister-in-law and got in touch last summer about her wedding… her excitement about marrying Sean was palpable, and I couldn’t wait to see all her awesome ideas come to fruition on the wedding day! We finally got to meet in person for a planning session at Simply Crepes… which lasted almost four hours! Ah, my job is so hard! Erica, her mom and my friend and coordinator extraordinaire, Cyd, talked business for about 20 minutes and spent the rest of the afternoon eating amazing crepes and talking about fun wedding stuff and silly stories. Good times! I finally got to meet Sean when I was down in Jersey visiting Matt and Kerri this summer. We had a delicious Mexican fiesta and Sean arrived with some incredible IPA’s which pretty much made us instant best friends. Sean knows everything about beer, I don’t know all that much but I love hops! So with all that to go on, I knew it’d be a great day! I showed up to the salon and Erica was having her makeup done. I’m a flincher, so I totally understand why Erica had to take the reigns for some of the eyelining!

Obviously have to include this one… Erica of course had some major shoes (did anyone watch that tv show about Posh and Becks coming to the US? If so, did you not looove how she called everything “mayyjahhh”? I’m so sad that didn’t turn in to a thing. It was awesome. Anyway…) When I sat them down for some portraits, I noticed Sean’s awesome socks, so I had to get a shot of both!

Right after we finished up the portraits, Erica told Sean she wanted to get a sneak peak of the tent. Erica had a special surprise waiting for him…

The ceremony was short and sweet… just the vows.

The tent looked utterly fabulous. I loved the colors and all of Erica’s details!

Party time! I have to start things off with this picture, I just can’t wait anymore! This is Sean’s dad, he is super awesome. Cyd, Becky and I spent pretty much the whole evening discussing said awesomeness:

Saturday happened to be Matt’s birthday, and Erica turned to Kerri and I for ideas on how to celebrate. Matt didn’t want anything taking attention away from Erica and Sean on their big day so he was not very cooperative and Kerri and I feared reprisal if we got involved. So Erica kept it low key and just grabbed the DJ’s mic to say “Happy Birthday” during the dancing. Here is a magical .gif where we can see Matt go from not having a clue what was going on, to the realization dawning, to begrudgingly accepting birthday wishes from everyone. Muuahahahahaha!

What a spectacular wedding… I had so much fun photographing you guys and your family and friends! Erica, thanks for making me dance, even though Thriller was cut off right before the dance part, I think Paula and I repped pretty well Sean, thanks for the Unearthly! I hope you’re having the best time in Vegas!!!

Another lovely day! I can’t believe how fast it went from 90+ degrees (fast=1 day) to 60s… it’s kind of crazy, but has been giving us some pretty skies. Lots of intense clouds, which is always nice! Katy and Chris are a super sweet couple who live in Boston so we didn’t get to meet until the wedding day. Everyone was getting ready at the Arbor House in Skaneateles and it was a great atmosphere when I arrived. It was a bit chaotic in the front house where the guys were getting ready, and it was all giggles and smiles in the back house where the ladies were. Kate Spade was kind enough to make an appearance!

The ceremony was at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Skaneateles…

The heavy backlight made it a bit challenging to shoot straight on, but I think this looks so pretty and ethereal!

The reception was at the Skaneateles Country Club which has a great waterfront view. Things ran so smoothly thanks to coordinator Danielle Fleckenstein!

Fun party

We did portraits by the lake near the church and at the country club… it was a perfect fall day with bright blue skies and puffy clouds, and saving photo time for sunset worked out really nicely… lots of pretty blues and purples and soft light.

Thank you for having me Katy and Chris, I am extremely jealous that you’re in Hawaii right now!!! Have an amazing time!

This season has been just fantastic so far, and this weekend was certainly no exception! Sarah and Mike booked with me last August, but we didn’t get to meet until this summer… they told me they were going to have a great party and I was definitely convinced when Sarah emailed a couple of weeks before the wedding to ask for my cell number because her phone had been destroyed during her bachelorette party. That’s one hell of a party! (Ok, so the phone was actually waterlogged because the ladies were at the beach and a rogue wave came out of nowhere and soaked them all, but it sounds pretty impressive before you get the real story, doesn’t it?)

The whole day took place at the lovely Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua. The girls were so hilarious and fun to hang around with while they were getting ready, I was cracking up while I was shooting. Sarah looks stunning! I loved her dress.

Sarah and Mike opted for a first sight.

We did the bridal party shots and portraits before the ceremony, it was a fun group!

Smooth.

After pictures, everyone went inside to freshen up. The ladies were taken to a little waiting room before heading out to the ceremony… everyone was laughing and joking as we walked down the hall, and then as soon as they crossed the threshold of the room, half of them started tearing up. It must be some kind of special crying room!

The ceremony was sweet.

And funny!

There was a wine ceremony, and Mike gave some to Sarah, then the officiant said, “And Mike can finish the rest.” which was what prompted this expression from Sarah… so cute! There was a lot of wine left.

A few details… I could’ve watched the tablecloths fluttering in the breeze for a good hour or so.

I love the tent at the Inn, the lanterns add so much!

Another beautiful wedding! I was excited to meet Whitney after emailing with her for over a year… we actually had a little trouble getting in touch at the very start because of a little typo, but with a bit of sleuthing and some help from the lovely people at Esperanza, we finally caught up with eachother We exchanged a bunch of emails about the wedding plans and it sounded like it was going to be a great day- I was not wrong!!

The ceremony was on the patio, and they had their programs tied to the backs of the chairs… the background papers were all different patterns but they corresponded beautifully, and it was such a lovely sight to come outside and see all the bright papers fluttering in the breeze. It was really, really cool.

Bo, the ring bearer… this dog is a tank, he’s like 1 foot tall and 55 pounds. He looked so cute coming down the aisle with his little tuxedo collar, I love it!

First kiss with blowing veil? Yes please!

Puppy montage!! He has the best expressions at all. I love the one with just the one bottom tooth sticking out, I was making a raspberry noise at that point that really got his attention, ha ha!

Bill pulled a cool move and planned the honeymoon as a surprise for Whitney… she didn’t find out the destination until halfway through the reception! That is so awesome, what a fun surprise! I have some kind of mental block when it comes to island names so I can’t remember exactly where they are, but I know they are somewhere amazing! (seriously, I was just about to tell a funny story about not remembering what Caribbean islands I went to, but I was actually in the Bahamas. If anyone needs ideas for my next birthday gift, a globe would probably be a good idea. Jeez.) Thanks so much for having me, it was a pleasure!
