Alex and John • Ithaca Wedding Photography

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

This Friday I took the beautiful drive down to Ithaca to photograph Alex and John’s wedding at Cornell’s Sage Chapel. I absolutely love it when my couples love photography as much as I do, so after exchanging a bunch of emails about cameras with Alex (and receiving her contract inside of an awesome Wonder Woman greeting card) I was extra excited to meet her! Alex and John are such a sweet couple, and I immediately felt at home with them, their friends and their families and enjoyed spending the day celebrating with them.

I love Alex’s dress, so simple, so pretty…

Loving the movement, color and expression as Alex gets out of the limo on the way to the chapel.

Alex and John saw eachother before the ceremony, and I was so excited to take advantage of the beautiful light pouring into the crypts.. drool…

The ceremony was full of cute moments (and don’t you LOVE her hair??)

I love this shot, the looks on their faces… they were waiting for their rings to be passed around amongst the guests before exchanging them, which was really charming.

How can you help but smile along with this picture?

Then we headed to the Fontainebleau Inn for the cocktail hour. The reception was catered by The Heights in Ithaca, which did a fabulous job. The hors d’ oeuvres were gorgeous (and tasty) as was the entree, and everyone was incredibly friendly.
Yum!

The way he’s looking at her reminds me of the 1995 Pride and Prejudice (or as I call it, the Colin Firth Love Eyes™ ha ha) it’s so sweet!

DJ Fuzzy Duck kept everyone moving all night (can’t believe I heard MGMT and Blur at a wedding… awesome!)

We also did some portraits on the grounds at Fontainebleau, just catching the last of the sunlight… Alex had been asking me about flare, and yes, we flared!

And they dipped.

And then I almost fell over laughing… I am not sure how this happened, but I think John asked Alex to return the favor and carry him around a bit, so we ended up with something that was a little bit Titanic, a little bit awkward, and a whole lot awesome.

Alex mentioned that she liked one of the workshop shots that’s on my site, so we did our own version of it.

Michelle and Mike’s Finger Lakes Wedding!

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Another fabulous wedding!  I was excited to head down to meet Michelle in Watkins Glen… we hadn’t met before, but she was so sweet in her emails and on the phone, I was really looking forward to it.  Here’s the lovely bride getting her makeup done at the salon…

Then we headed over to the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, which I am seriously in love with. This place is goooorgeous. It’s eco-friendly and the decor is so fresh and modern, I love the bold wall colors!

Michelle’s dress is so pretty!

Did a few pictures with the guys at the hotel and the girls at Watkins Glen State Park.

Before the ceremony at Logan Ridge Estates, Michelle took a peek at the reception room, her reaction was so cute!

Coordinator Cynthia Converse did an absolutely fabulous job!
And while I’m at it, Red Newt Bistro hit it out of the park… yum!

I love tall centerpieces like this!

Then we headed downstairs for the ceremony- it was originally meant to be outside, but it rained most of the day so they set up indoors… but that certainly didn’t dampen spirits!

They are so sweet together!

Hello!

The first dance… they are so in love it was like nobody else was in the room!

And father daughter…

The guys gave Michelle a traditional fraternity welcome- class!

And a few portraits between raindrops.

Congratulations Michelle and Mike, thank you so much for having me at your wedding! Have an amazing time in Greece… if you need someone to photograph your vacation, I am available… just putting it out there! ;)

Danielle and Trevor’s Ithaca Wedding

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I met Danielle and Trevor last fall, we headed to Ithaca for an engagement shoot and I had so much fun with them.  We shot around town and went around the Cornell campus a bit as well, then they treated me to a tasty lunch before I headed back home!
I’d been looking forward to their wedding for the whole year, and the inital forecasts were that the remnants of hurricane whicheveroneican’tkeeptrackanymore was supposed to be heading into New York, and I was really keeping my fingers crossed that we wouldn’t be rained out- we’d had a pretty grey day for the e-shoot as well. Fortunately, it ended up being a bit overcast, but no rain! I met up with the girls at Satori Day Spa for the getting ready, everyone was nice and chill, enjoying the morning.

Beautiful dress!

Sage Chapel is so pretty.

Aww!

I love that the officiant stepped to the side during the rings, it made a nice clean background- thanks!!

Yay bubbles!

First dance!

This was a serious group of dancers… people were up dancing between meal courses, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen!

And some portraits around the beautiful campus!

Look familiar? :) I think I figured out that this is an English Weeping Beech, I love it!

Congratulations you two, I have had such a great time working with you!!

Rachel and Olivier’s Ithaca Wedding

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Ah, back to work after a few weeks off, and what a way to start!  Rachel and Olivier (or, Doctor and Doctor… seriously, I think almost everyone in the wedding party is, or will soon be, a doctor… infact, I think I accidentally became a doctor just from hanging out with them all day.  Good thing my initials are already MD)… anyway!  Rachel and Olivier were married in one of my favorite places in New York… Ithaca!

I headed down to meet the girls at Satori Day Spa… everyone was having a great time:

Rachel’s sister excelled at her Maid of Honor duties :)

I just love Rachel’s dress!

The ceremony was at Sage Chapel on the Cornell campus, it’s a really beautiful buildling.  I think Olivier’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time is one of my all time favorites… he got this huge smile on his face and was just like “Oh wow!”  It was so cute, and she did look quite foxy!

They are so cute together!

Olivier did a little dance move after being pronounced husband and wife, it had everyone laughing :D

A private moment after the ceremony…

Before we headed to the reception at the beautiful Fontainebleau Inn the guys wanted to do a Reservoir Dogs-type shot, I think they look pretty badass.

First dance!

The dance floor was rocking pretty much all night…

Ooooooooh, we’re halfway theeeere!

And some fun portraits…

Congratulations you two, thanks so much for having me!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend!
