I knew I would like Sipra from the start. Her first email was sweet, engaging and enthusiastic and when we met to talk over details, her personality matched right up. I didn’t get to meet Jan until half a year later, when we did the engagement shoot, and I totally love their dynamic- she’s bubbly and sweet, and he’s quiet and witty. It’s a really cute combination! We had fun wandering around Highland Park and Corbett’s Glen for the shoot… I even forgot that I was moving the next day! With only a few weeks left until the wedding, I am really pleased I got a break to post the engagement photos!

We started at Highland Park, which was a challenge since it was during the Lilac Fest- there were people everywhere. I managed to find a few angles that looked like we had the place to ourselves…

Then we headed to Corbett’s Glen, which is a cool place to shoot!

Is that spiderman crouching up there on the ceiling… I mean, I can’t blame him for wanting to join the party, we are pretty cool after all.

We also went to the other entrance to Corbett’s Glen, which is a really pretty little trail.

I love this one… his big manly hand next to her dainty face!

Another weekend, another great engagement! Lizy and Wyatt came up from Baltimore for their shoot, it was so great to meet them after corresponding with Lizy last summer. Lizy’s emails were so full of warmth and personality, I kind of felt like she was smiling while she typed them… so of course I was looking forward to the shoot. Lizy and Wyatt are really cute together and were a pleasure to photograph!

You’d think from all the lovely flowering trees and bushes that spring is officially here, right? It snowed yesterday morning. Ah Rochester…

My brides always wear such hot shoes… even in the woods! Love it…

As we walked down towards a field, I told Lizy and Wyatt about the time I was in the same area for a shoot a couple years ago and there were about 40 deer standing around… de ja vue! There were probably 10 or so just chillin’ in the field, it was pretty cool!

The 2011 couples are already here! Jill and Martin’s wedding is next summer, and they wanted to set up an engagement so they can start sending out their save-the-dates. I’m so happy that we fit the shoot in this week, because EVERYTHING is in bloom right now… it is just gorgeous outside, even when it’s gray and cold (which it definitely was for our shoot!)

Jill and Martin are both getting their doctorates in psychology in Pittsburgh, and I’m so glad we got to meet up despite their extremely busy schedules! I had so much fun wandering around Highland Park with them, chatting about dogs (they have an adorable pug!) and attempting to outrun the threatening skies. Let’s get to it!

We also stopped into the Lamberton Conservatory for a few shots… I love this place!

I got about 5 shots off in this room before the humidity fogged up my lenses (to be fair, they had been out in the freezing cold for the previous hour or so!)

Since it’s been about 10 degrees for the last couple weeks, I think a shoot from summertime is in order! I met with Katie and Sean in spring about their wedding next year, and we set up an engagement session for the end of August. Unfortunately, I came down with an awful, sudafed-resistant cold during my trip to Brooklyn (for the best party of all time) the day before, so we postponed, but it worked out well because it wasn’t the best weather… and the day we did get was fantastic! Warm and sunny and just right!

Now, my undying love for Buicks is fairly well known… so I knew it was going to be a good day when we were making the plans for where to meet up and I told Katie to look for me in a white Buick, and she exclaimed “I drive a white Buick too!” Sweet! We met up at St. John Fisher, where they went to school and had a great time wandering around shooting… they were so natural infront of the camera, just laughing and having fun like they do that every day. Win!

Right around this area was where I had what I would classify as my dorkiest photographer moment (and there have been many)… I was walking backwards while shooting, and totally forgot there was a giant step behind me, and I just backed right into it and completely bit it. Not cool, ever. Fortunately, it was a step UP (down would’ve involved lots of tumbling and breakage of gear and bones) and extra fortunately, Katie and Sean were quick to offer up their own stories of falling over to make me feel like less of a hoser. Love you guys!

After finishing up at Fisher, we headed to this overgrown field I’d spotted a week before, which was looking pretty awesome around sunset!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone, I’ll be back with some babies soon, and weddings start back up on the second so lots to blog!

Catch up time! I have a few shoots that I wasn’t able to blog because the wedding season was so busy, so now is the perfect time to post some of them- and since they were shot when it was nicer out, we can all pretend that it’s not cold, dreary, gray and leafless outside! Bonus!

Emily and Dan are getting married in January, and we got together for a sweet shoot during peak fall colors. We met up at Mendon Ponds and had about 2 minutes before it started pouring, so we decided to meet again the next day and I’m so glad it happened that way! The next day I came across this cool field that had these weird seed pods with white cottony seed puffs floating around, so I tossed the idea out to Emily and Dan and they were game… I’m posting these first because I LOVE them so much!

We had to keep waiting for the wind to bring a cloud of the puffs over, and Emily and Dan were perfect models every time I yelled that some were coming. Well done!

Then we headed back to Mendon Ponds and got some shots with their two puppies Jake and Gracie. They’re such a funny pair, and totally adorable.

Shooting with dogs is so hilarious… looking calm and cool on a peaceful nature walk:

All of my couples are pretty adventurous anyway, but it’s nice when we don’t have to worry about getting dresses dirty!
