I’ve been waiting for Katie and Sean’s wedding to roll around for a while now… we booked last spring and I shot their engagement pictures in the summer and had a lot of fun with them shooting around St. John Fisher (and falling over) and a pretty field. Plus it was time for our Buicks to reunite… they missed eachother!

I started out at Katie’s parents’ house where the girls were getting ready. Katie started crying when she first saw her dad and he asked her why she was crying and she was just like *sniff sniff* “I don’t know!” *sob* It was a ridiculously sweet moment.

The church was pretty… it’s nice to have really open space to work in.

For pictures, we headed to a beautiful house on the lake, which was great. We did a few bridal party pictures, and I had to post this one for the guys. They had some really elaborate plans for jumping shots, and jumping high five shots. I think we can all agree on who has the best form here…

Now of course on to the ones with just Katie and Sean… they told me they’d been practicing since our engagement. I didn’t think they needed it, but they do look mighty hot right here.

We also got some sunset shots at the hotel where the reception was, which I love! I’m going to pretend that’s a beautiful old estate in the background, ala Pemberley in Pride and Prejudice, instead of a furniture store. Romantic!

Now on to the party… I told Katie at one point that was the first reception where I ever actually lost track of time! Their family and friends were really entertaining!

Shooting dancing can be really tough. Most people dance in a circle formation, which means there’s a wall of backs aimed at me. Sometimes people do this thing where they make two parallel lines and then two people will dance down the middle. I LOVE this. Everyone should do this. So much easier to get great pictures!

Somehow the so-called “slow season” has turned into a really busy season, so I have lots to blog, but I will start with the lovely wedding of Kelly and Adam this past weekend! Yes, it was Valentine’s weekend, no, it was not a Valentine themed wedding… Kelly wanted to make sure nobody thought it was and went for an unexpected (and very welcome) pop of citrus for her flowers… love it!

We headed to St. John’s Church in Mount Morris for the ceremony-

It’s a cool church, and I noticed their officiant left them a cute little note in the pew that said “Hey Kelly and Bub- Smile, you’re gettin’ married! Love, Butch” how awesome is that? It was a fun, sweet ceremony.

Rings! They had these cute little snowflake holders for the place cards, so I snagged one for this shot.

So excited about this post! I teamed up with coordinator extraordinaire Cyd of Sweetest Occasion and super stylish Ami at Elizabeth Ann Designs on this shoot. It all started with one little picture posted by Cyd, which was the basis for Ami’s lovely inspiration board…

It was really impressive to watch Cyd at work, bringing her creative vision to life. We unloaded a ton of supplies from her car, and she went to work figuring out how exactly she wanted everything to look… I love this color combination, it is so simple and elegant.

I can’t go any further without mentioning our mascot of the day, my nephew Jeremy. Look how handsome!

Cute favors!

I had so much fun shooting this with Cyd! It is really amazing to see how one little piece of inspiration can give rise to an entire wedding decoration theme!

After meeting with Emily and Dan and doing a super sweet engagement session I was really excited for the wedding. They’re just really cute together, Dan’s quiet and Emily is bubbly, and the way he looks at her is so very sweet! Plus they’re kickass models.

Emily’s mom made this awesome birdcage veil. I do so love a birdcage.

Dad sees her for the first time. And seriously people, how gorgeous and perfect is this dress on her?

The ceremony was at St. Louis Church in Pittsford, which I LOVE. I’d never been there before, but the light is great, the whole church is beautiful and the setup is pretty fantastic photo-wise. Having the chairs for the bride and groom on the left side of the altar is basically infinity times better than on the right.

The reception was at the Memorial Art Gallery, which is a really cool spot for a party! Emily and Dan (and a bunch of their friends) are chefs, so uh no pressure on the caterers or anything, ha ha. They had some pretty nice moves for the first dance…

Before the reception, we headed off to the Woodcliff to take advantage of the view. The bridal party was awesome, thankfully it wasn’t as cold as Pam and Jared’s wedding, but it was still pretty bitter out there!

We also did some stuff at the gallery, which has some cool places to shoot. I like the crazy pattern of the branches.

This was a quick indoor shot, I couldn’t get it exactly how I wanted it, but thought it turned out kinda cool anyway.

I knew Emily was going to bring it with the footwear after she wore heels to our engagement session at Mendon Ponds and called them her “hiking boots” and these did not let me down! I adore colorful shoes on brides!

Viva la Conando!

Happy 2010 everyone! I’d like to thank all my 2009 clients for making it such a fun and successful year!

Pam and Jared were married this weekend, just after New Year’s, and I can’t even begin to express how amazed I am at how smoothly everything went… Pam is a friend of one of my couples from this summer (more on that later!) and her first question was whether or not I’d be able to take care of planning from overseas- Jared is in the military and is stationed in Germany, so they’ve been back and forth a bunch of times in the last few months, came back to New York for the holidays and their wedding, leave for Jamaica on Tuesday and then the day after they get back, they’re officially moving to Germany. Just take a second to think about that. Planning a wedding, moving to a foreign country, honeymoon travel, and holidays all within about TWO WEEKS. My head is about to explode thinking about it. But you’d never guess from how chill everyone was during the lead-up to the wedding.

I met the girls at the Radisson downtown where they had a beautiful suite overlooking the city.

When Pam and I first met earlier this fall, I showed her some pictures from other winter weddings I’ve done and she really wanted some cute winter accessories to go with her dress… I looooove this muffler.

As always, I’m thrilled when clients decide to do a “first sight” and it was essential on this day because the sun was going to be completely gone over an hour before the ceremony! So cute! (Fun portraits at the end)

Krystle and Tim!!! I love when I get to see past clients, especially when they live hundreds of miles away. Cute as ever! Really great to see you guys, marriage looks good on ya!

Some of you may recall this guy was one half of the beautiful choreographed dance from Krystle and Tim’s wedding. I was hoping for an encore performance… no such luck, but he still brought some moves.

It got a liiiiittle bit rowdy… the guy in the foreground is my favorite part. I was making the same face!

Since it’s been about 10 degrees for the last couple weeks, I think a shoot from summertime is in order! I met with Katie and Sean in spring about their wedding next year, and we set up an engagement session for the end of August. Unfortunately, I came down with an awful, sudafed-resistant cold during my trip to Brooklyn (for the best party of all time) the day before, so we postponed, but it worked out well because it wasn’t the best weather… and the day we did get was fantastic! Warm and sunny and just right!

Now, my undying love for Buicks is fairly well known… so I knew it was going to be a good day when we were making the plans for where to meet up and I told Katie to look for me in a white Buick, and she exclaimed “I drive a white Buick too!” Sweet! We met up at St. John Fisher, where they went to school and had a great time wandering around shooting… they were so natural infront of the camera, just laughing and having fun like they do that every day. Win!

Right around this area was where I had what I would classify as my dorkiest photographer moment (and there have been many)… I was walking backwards while shooting, and totally forgot there was a giant step behind me, and I just backed right into it and completely bit it. Not cool, ever. Fortunately, it was a step UP (down would’ve involved lots of tumbling and breakage of gear and bones) and extra fortunately, Katie and Sean were quick to offer up their own stories of falling over to make me feel like less of a hoser. Love you guys!
