Farewell, 2013! • Rochester Wedding Photographer

Friday, January 3rd, 2014

Now that 2014 is upon us, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite photographs from my 2013 weddings… a huge “Thank You” to all my couples for making it such a fun and successful year! Your move, 2014-ers :)

Ashley & Joey’s Cornell wedding was so very special. Just a few days into the new year and I got to witness their giddy, gleeful love for each other.

Next up was Becca and Mike’s intimate ceremony at Bristol Harbour… it was bitterly cold but these two braved the elements for some gorgeous shots! So much fun hanging out with them!

Laura and Steve’s wedding at Belhurst Castle was beautiful, we were so lucky to catch the flowering trees! I loved their first look!

Stephanie and Matt’s ridiculously fun (most of the wedding party/guests are in musical theater, so the dance floor was insaaaane) was at the Genesee Country Museum. But no dance moves could upstage the canine romance that happened when we were shooting some portraits of Stephanie, Matt, Gizmo and Scamp… it’s so inappropriate, but so, so funny!

Katrina and Matt were one of my earliest bookings ever- over two years in advance, so I had tons of time to anticipate their day! It was everything I hoped it would be, sweet, emotional and fun. Matt watching Katrina come down the aisle is one of my favorites of the year! Look at that tear!!!

Karen and Will are such a fantastic pair… so sweet and genuine, it was so fun to spend the day with them, their wonderful family and friends! Plus we got to hang out at this incredible waterfall for a while!!

I got to travel down to the NJ for Dan and Megan’s ridiculously fun wedding… I love these two and am dead set on making them hang out with me next time I’m down there to visit my brother and sister-in-law. This shot made me laugh so hard… so Megan!!

I think Elizabeth and Mark take the prize for craziest wedding day weather… it was pouring, then sunny, then pouring, then sunny. Just a wild day! Elizabeth had found a barn she loved near the ceremony site and asked the homeowners a week or two before the wedding if we could use their property. The barn was really cool, but my jaw dropped when I saw what was out back… absolutely stunning!!!

Bre and Dan’s wedding was every bit as awesome as I was hoping it would be after hearing all of her plans, I loved the whole look… Bre should be a wedding coordinator!

I loved Jasmine and Grayson’s wedding at Glenora, the wedding totally reflected their personalities and I adored the ceremony set up!

I got to head up to Tughill Vineyards in Lowville, NY (aka one of the prettiest places ever) for Amber and Clif’s fabulous wedding. I just love these two. So fun to photograph. :)

Kelly and Jason’s beautiful wedding at the Sherwood in Skaneateles had so many highlights! I love this image, and it gets a little extra bump because Jason pointed out the spot and that it was the kind of light I love. How awesome is it that he remembered from our engagement shoot? I love my couples!!!

Ah, I can’t get enough of these two! Christi and Ergin are some of the nicest people ever. And this moment during their first look was so special. Ergin just bear hugged Christi (but in a very photogenic way, of course) and exclaimed, “this is a dream come true!” So lovely!!

Man, I have had such great luck during my career… I really do get the sweetest couples ever. Jess and Andrew and their family and friends were the best. What a great day!

Lauren and Chris had another fabulous day at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo. Probably one of my favorite venues of the year, and Lauren and Chris were so sweet and relaxed all day. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with them!

Jill and Zach’s wedding was a beautiful, emotional day. These two are so in love, and on top of it all, Zach’s sister Ryan is serving overseas. Zach’s father used Skpe on an iPad to allow Ryan to watch the ceremony and parts of the reception.

Brittany and Sean didn’t let anything disrupt their fun on their wedding day, I loved their attitudes! Brittany was excited about pictures in downtown Skaneateles, but unfortunately it was pouring rain all day. I told her that I was up for it if she was up for it, but wasn’t going to keep my hopes up… much to my surprise, she said “Let’s do it!” and out into the rain the three of us ran. Totally worth it, I love pictures in the rain and we had so much fun taking them!

Tree and Alexi had slightly better luck with the Skaneateles weather gods! I love Tree’s bubbly, sweet personality and how Alexi’s wit keeps her constantly giggling… they’re so cute together!

Jess and Mike, two of the loveliest hearts. Seriously. The kindest people. And a beautiful fall day in Ithaca :)

While Calvin and Laura’s bridal party lined up for introductions, I saw this gorgeous opportunity for a silhouette at Esperanza Mansion. So beautiful, and I love that you can still see them smiling at each other even though it is a just a silhouette!

Jennie and Greg had such a fun and emotional day! Jennie’s brother performed a tribute during the ceremony to honor family members they had lost and he had a bit of trouble getting through it, so Jennie got up to comfort and encourage him. Love this moment. What a great family!

Andrea and Phil’s beautiful wedding at the Genesee Valley Club was a great way to wrap up the season! I was under the weather, but we had so many pretty spots to work with in the club that it helped keep me distracted from my sore throat! :)

Congratulations to everyone and thank you once again for making it a fantastic year!!!! <3

Back to Skaneateles for the last time in 2013! I can’t believe the season is almost over! Jennie and Greg had a very lucky day for their wedding… the rain was looming during pictures at the lake but didn’t actually start until we were safely inside the church for the ceremony. Danielle Fleckenstein did a beautiful job coordinating things!

I’m actually going to start out this blog post with the MVP because he was working his magic all day long! Jennie did a first look with her parents before she saw Greg, her dad’s reaction was so hilarious!

Jennie and Greg’s first look was just as sweet. Just pure, genuine happiness.

We took pictures around Mirbeau for a while, I’ll never get sick of this place!

Jennie and Greg are adorable!

Then we headed to Skaneateles Country Club for some more pictures. It looked so beautiful there with the storm clouds and wind!

Absolutely love this one!

The bridal party joined us for some fun in the warm breeze. Ha ha.

The ceremony was at St. Patrick’s Mission Church in Tully, cool little spot!

Jennie’s brother got up to perform a tribute song to family members they had lost and had a bit of trouble getting through it. Loved this sweet moment.

<3

We headed back to SCC for the reception… now this is a first dance!

The party was sooo fun, this group was ready to take the floor immediately!

Someone started playing spin the bottle in the dance cirlce… they’d spin the bottle and whoever was chosen would be the next to get in the middle and dance. Jennie’s dad picked it up and to speed things along used it like a divining rod to select the next dancer, lol.

Thanks so much for having me Jennie and Greg, I had a great time!!

Hooray for Tree and Alexi!! We had an absolutely beautiful day and Tree and Alexi were having the best time! Tree has a really genuine, fun sweetness about her and Alexi is hilarious so they are pretty much always laughing. I met up with the girls at Tree’s parents’ house. I just love her dress so much!

Theresa wanted some pictures with her cat, Kitty… I think Kitty was a little nervous with all the excitement of the morning so he was a bit camera shy but we got some cute shots. I love when pets are incorporated into the day somehow!

I don’t think this smile left Theresa’s face all day!

Or Alexi’s!

The happy couple!

We headed to my favorite spot in Skaneateles for portraits!

Couldn’t be any cuter, could they?

Tree is such a beauty, look at those cheekbones for crying out loud!

We headed to The Lodge for the reception.

Brian from Visa Versa crushed it with the lighting and music!

I had some bridesmaid input on the MVP this week… one of them said it almost looked like our MVP couple were hired to be at the wedding because of their awesome dance floor presence! Work it MVPs!

Ha ha ha ha Alexi gives good face.

Congratulations Tree and Alexi, you guys are so fun, I had a great time spending the day with you and your families and friends!!

Hooray for Brittany and Sean! Brittany and Sean are my second couple in a row to have met in a recreational adult sports league! I also have some friends who have met their significant others that way… I feel like I’m starting to hear this almost as much as I hear that people met online! Take note, singletons. ;)
Brittany has been such a treat to plan the wedding with, she’s so sweet and laid back!

Give me these shoes.

The ceremony was at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Skaneateles. Beautiful church!

Brittany and Sean were both so serenely happy throughout the whole ceremony.

Mr. & Mrs.

The rain started during the ceremony. It did not let up all day, but that didn’t stop Brittany and Sean! I love it when my couples are really focused on what matters (each other!) and just go with the flow. Brittany still wanted to stop by the park in downtown Skaneateles, which I thought was totally awesome. I love rain in pictures!

Embracing the day!

After a few quick shots we headed to Skaneateles Country Club to finish up portraits. We lucked out with their huge portico… I don’t think the giant bridal party would’ve fit anywhere indoors! :D

Love this! Brittany is seriously awesome.

Sean clearly just strolled out of the pages of GQ.

The reception was a great party, with Ormond Entertainment keeping the floor packed all night! Brittany and Sean’s first dance was all sweetness.

Loved this sweet moment between Sean and his mom.

I’ve never seen a mother of the bride do the knee thrashing dance, this was awesome!!!!

MVP was based on a single picture tonight. Brittany’s dad made this face while being pulled into a dance circle by one of Sean’s relatives and I can’t stop laughing at it! Best ever!!!

I love it when grooms spend a lot of time on the dance floor… Sean was rocking it!

A little bit softer now!

Congratulations Brittany and Sean, you guys were a pleasure to photograph! I’m so glad you didn’t let the rain get you down, we still made a lot of beautiful pictures and had a good time to boot! :D Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

What a gorgeous day we had for Jess and Andrew’s pretty, pretty wedding! I remember when we first spoke, Jess was asking about timing and light and I was so happy she set her ceremony for late afternoon to take advantage of things. The late day sun was just so perfect for the vintage style of their wedding!

I met the girls at the beautiful Old Stone Mill Inn in Skaneateles. I hadn’t been here before and was really impressed with how pretty and modern it was inside… lots of lovely light for a gorgeous bride!

Obsessed with this one.

My favorite spot! Love all the different dresses on these ladies!

Jess had a quick prayer with her mom, sister and bridesmaids before heading to the ceremony.

The ceremony and reception were held at Mandana Barn, such a pretty view!

I love catching little moments like this, Jess’s nervous excitement, fiddling with her engagement ring. So cute.

So happy!

Mr & Mrs!

Fun bridal party!

And a special request from Jess…

Ok, photographing Jess and Andrew was like the easiest thing ever. They are so adorable and so in love, I was just like “Click got it” ha ha.

The barn was so pretty with all the string lights and the party was so fun! Rocko from RD Entertainment had the floor packed all night.

Let’s talk MVP. The barn was really steamy. Like, really steamy. But that did not stop this guy from going all out all night. He is in the background of most of the dance floor pictures because he was just a whirling dervish… it was pretty damn hilarious. It’s too bad about his phobia of hands though, lol.

I love the girl in the background who cannot handle that they’re walking like Egyptians.

Congratulations Jess and Andrew!

Southern sweetness. Even though Kelly is from Otisco Lake, she just has a southern belle air about her… so it is perfect that her prince just happens to be from Kentucky. Kelly spotted Jason from across the room at a work party and jokingly said to her friends, “I want him!” After a couple of roadblocks, the two were introduced and instantly hit it off… it just made sense. It is easy to see why, their affection for each other is so charming.

I met up with the girls at the lovely Sherwood Inn where Kelly was having her makeup done by the incomparable Erica Abdo! Hair by Hillary also did a beautiful job!

This was just a moment after ultra-sweet Kelly told her maid of honor she would kill her if she started crying, ha ha.

Gorgeous bride!

And her very handsome groom.

St. Mary’s Church in Auburn is pretty much a photographic dream come true. So beautiful, and pretty well lit for a church!

It’s official!

Dr. & Mrs. H!

I love bubbles! I’m a huge fan of fun exits right after the ceremony.

We headed to my favorite spot in Skaneateles for some pictures. I am officially completely obsessed with fountains. And this bridal party!

I mostly love this one because of the ring bearers off in the corner watching the proceedings. :)

Kelly and Jason are so fun (and easy!) to photograph! We did an engagement shoot a little over a month ago, I can’t really blog engagements during wedding season but I can’t wait to get it posted this winter! Clearly they have some serious skills.

As we were walking back to the Sherwood for cocktail hour, Jason points over to this spot and says “Isn’t that the kind of light you love?” and we came away with this. Um, Jason… if you ever get bored with doctoring, you can come work with me!

I love the Sherwood. It’s such a great spot, so unique and always top notch service.
Check out this gorgeous cake!!

The party got going quickly and did not slow down all night thanks to Black Tie Entertainment!

So, I thought I had the MVP chosen early in the night- Jason’s dad was rocking it out big time.

But once Kelly changed into her dancing dress, she did not leave the floor all night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bride have that much fun on the dance floor! Total MVP!

I love moments like this, just totally losing it, having the best time… :)

I think this is my favorite dancing picture of the night… lol!

Congratulations Kelly and Jason, you two are so sweet, it was a pleasure to photograph your beautiful day!!!
